Module 3Lesson 1
15 minSelf-Consistency
Self-consistency improves accuracy by generating multiple diverse reasoning paths and selecting the most consistent answer. This is particularly effective for complex reasoning tasks.
How It Works
The model is prompted multiple times with the same question, generating various reasoning paths. The final answer is determined by majority vote among the outputs.
Advantages
- Robustness: Reduces the impact of random errors
- Accuracy: Higher probability of correct answer
- Reliability: More dependable for critical tasks
Limitations
- Cost: Requires multiple API calls
- Latency: Slower response time
Exercise
Manually simulate self-consistency by asking the same question 3 times and comparing the answers.
